Just like the first season, the video on this release is really good. The colours are bright and the animation is simple yet clean and well done. Because this is an animated television show the aspect ratio is in 1.33:1 format. The 2.0 stereo track is again, very nicely done. The dialogue is always clean and well defined and the music and effects are also well mixed. There’s French and Spanish stereo tracks as well. In the extras department we get an exclusive mini comic book insert called “Divided we Fall.” A nice addition for any fan of the series. The DVD opens with trailers for the Spongebob DVD collection, and the Nick Pick DVDs. The final extra consists of an original uncut animatic of Chapter 1. This is like getting an entire extra episode. It’s really cool to see the comparison between the animatic and the finished product (which is displayed in the bottom corner).
I will again recommend this DVD for purchase. It’s a great show and this time we get a great 5 episodes!!! And that’s without even considering the extras, which aren’t a lot but a nice addition to an already decent DVD. The release could be better but I’m happy with what’s available. If you haven’t checked out Avatar: The Last Airbender yet, what are you waiting for?
