This 1976 concert from Cat Stevens is more then just a performance…it'
s a trip!
Staged by Stevens, this production featured magicians and synchronized film
projection that was ambitious for the time. The original tapes were lost
for several years, but recently resurfaced and have been given the DVD treatment
in this release.
The performance featured a huge band and several of Stevens’ hits including
Moonshadow, Peace Train and Father and Son, all performed in a circus tent
atmosphere.
Eagle Vision has done a great job with the restoration of the film. The colors
are vibrant and the sound is astonishing. It includes both DTS and Dolby
Digital audio tracks and seem like they were recorded yesterday. The whole
sound spectrum was utilized, and good use of the rear channels adds a nice
ambience to the performance.
Special features include the encore of Wild World, plus several live performances
from British television. There is also a new interview with Stevens, now
known as Yusuf Islam, where he finally reveals why he made the decision to
leave the music business almost 30 years ago and join a life of Islam.
This was Stevens’ last concert performance and it definitely was one to remember
him by. Let’s hope that he decides to record and perform once again. His
music is missed.
