The Core
The Core

It's a wonder why this movie didn't make a bigger impact at the box office. Director Jon Amiel's (Entrapment) epic apocalyptic adventure pushes all the right buttons.

When animals start behaving oddly and people start dying suddenly, a geophysicist (Aaron Eckhart) discovers that the Earth's inner core has stopped rotating, and an elite team of scientists has one last chance to save the world by journeying into the center of the Earth.

Stunning special effects, a great ensemble cast including Hilary Swank, Stanley Tucci and Delroy Lindo, and an engaging story makes this movie one not to miss on DVD.

The widescreen transfer captures all the CGI effects perfectly with deep blacks and vibrant colors. Then image is crisp and no artifacting is apparent when watched on a 16X9 TV set.

The Dolby Digital 5.1 sound is simply amazing. All channels are used to their full potential with special emphasis on the surround channels and subwoofer just like it should be. This is the first DVD I have watched in a while that actually made the room shake.

The DVD is also loaded with special features including deleted and extended scenes, documentaries and commentaries.

The Core is definitely reference quality for showing off your home theater system, and with its PG rating the whole family can watch it. Don't miss it!
