A movie called Dorm of the Dead screams for lots of sex, hot passion and lots of gore. And while this film has about as much plot as porn flick there’s not enough sex to make it interesting. In fact, there’s only a bit of T&A going on in this horror themed film and the gore isn’t much more then some fake blood here and there. In fact, I was expecting Misty Mundae to make a cameo appearance as this is the kind of film she’d be in.
At Arkham University, campus snobs Clare and Julie have a score to settle with goth chicks Sarah and Allison. And when Amy accidentally unleashes a campus zombie epidemic, Clare picks Sarah as the perfect candidate to join the walking dead. But Clare and Julie may end up on tonight’s menu.
The video is pulled directly from a digital source so it’s not too bad technically. Unfortunately the composition hasn’t been adjusted and no colour correction has occurred which means a scene that has more then one shot in it is often very different in appearance. You can tell they weren’t shot at the same time and probably not even in the same room.
The audio in this film is absolutely terrible! The actual track on the DVD is fine as all the problems come from the source material. It seems as though all the audio was captured directly from the digital camera used to shoot the movie. That’s right, it’s not recorded separately but using the mic attached to the camera. It’s painful to listen to most of the time.
The DVD opens with trailers for Insane in the Brain, Naked Beneath the Water and The Lawless. These trailers are not accessible from the menus but the trailer for Dorm of the Dead is. “Dorm of the Dead: Behind the Scenes with Tiffany Shepis” is mostly “second camera” footage of a few scenes from the movie as shot by Tiffany. It’s not a very good behind-the-scenes featurette but it at least gives this DVD another extra.
If it weren’t for the title of the film, nobody would pick it up. If it weren’t for the nudity, I don’t think anyone would watch it. So with that being said… don’t bother with this one. It’s a mixed bag of bad acting, terrible script, lame physical effects and a slew of other nasties I probably shouldn’t advertise publicly. But, if you’re a sucker for punishment, like a little nudity with your zombies and think the title is brilliant… don’t say I didn’t warn you.
