Beast Wars: Transformers - the Complete Second Season (Beasties
as it was called in Canada) starts off with a missing Optimus Primal - beloved
Maximal leader - thought dead after disappearing far above the Earth's surface.
To confuse matters more, a few chosen Predacons and Maximals are upgraded into
TransMetals -- including Predacon leader Megatron -- and two new characters (Fuzors) are
thrown into the fray.
As Megatron attempts to rewrite history and destroy his Maximal enemies, fans of the
original Transformers series will experience moments of nostalgia as they catch
glimpses of the "Generation One" Autobots and Decepticons.
Unfortunately, the repetitive Predacon/Maximal shoot-outs do get a little tedious after
a while, but at least there is a nice story to follow once you get past the DVD-enhanced
computer graphics and Dolby Digital 5.1 fire-play.
From Vancouver-based company, Mainframe Entertainment (known for being a
forerunner in CG animated series such as ReBoot, and the new Spider-Man), Beast
Wars Season Two is a nice addition to any animation fan's collection.
